I still think these are good units, but one I set up for a client went south and might have taken the data with it. The NAS box is no longer accessible. We'll have to extract the drives and hope they're readable form a PC.
Uses some proprietary RAID.
Look at previous deal instead.
#2, you're out of luck. It writes in a proprietary code, so you can't just plug it into a pc and boot.
Not the best for outright throughput.
Absolutely the best for peace of mind. It e-mails you and there are desktop widgets so you always know the health of the unit. I've purchased three so far.
The X-RAID is proprietary, and very good. Plenty of reviews back this up. If the unit does fail, the drives can be installed in a different ReadyNAS and your data will be preserved.
