There's one type of defect that this won't find, called a "split pair", which is common if you have total noobs doing both ends of the same cable. All the wires test right at DC, but it won't pass traffic because two wires carrying different signals are twisted around each other. Just be aware, that's why the more expensive testers exist.
Had one of these in my toolbox in the hot California sun. It actually MELTED!
Very cheap plastic, paper-thin. Maybe it works, maybe not - never got a chance to try it.
Just a backup to my REAL tester.
