Dang, I can get a pretty powerful Latitude D620 with a Core 2 Duo processor and DVD writer, AND Windows XP Pro+ for under $400 shipped with this deal, which I almost bit on last week when it was $100 off $500. 30% off $500 is even better.

BUT, I don't need the laptop until October. Somebody convince me they will have a similar offer in September, and they will have more of these laptops then, still with XP Pro+, AND with more time left on the warranty.

The one I am looking at has a warranty which expires Jan. 2010, which is not bad.

Don't confuse this with the outlet. Dfsdirect sells lease returns which are two two or three years old and have been used by people who knew their longevity was not their problem. The outlet sells recent returns and canceled orders. You're much better off with the outlet usually.

This site is a waste of time. Stick with the Outlet. I ordered 15-20 computers from the Outlet, one looked like it was actually used.

Thanks, #'s 5 and 6. I will consider shopping the Outlet instead when I am ready.

I like DFS. Like previous people said, these computers of off-lease, but in good sell-able condition. I got a D420 ultraportable for <$350 from here and enjoy the heck out of it. A similar D430 at the outlet was going for >$700 at the time.

For most applications, a Core2Duo D630 is more than adequate. And at <$400 -- they're a steal. To each his own, but I think these computers are awesome deals.
