So, I'm looking for a cheap notebook for when I'm traveling. I don't need speed or to burn anything. I do need to edit Word docs and run excel spreadsheets including VBA macros and wifi.

Light weight and battery life are a plus.

    Any ideas?

    Pete

#2 - For portability, go with a netbook (7-10 inch screens). Do a search for "netbook" on buy.com for a good variety of netbooks. I'm sure there are other sites to check like newegg.com, etc. I like my 10 inch netbook - it's 2.3 lbs, and VERY portable. I bought an 9-cell battery (7-8 hour battery life) off ebay for $55 for my MSI Wind 10-inch netbook.
