Ben's Bargains Serving Fresh Deals 24/7
You might've noticed a few changes around here. At the top of the home page there's an easy-to-use slider where you can view the hottest offers of the day. Just below that, click the "Open Page Filter," and you can pick and choose what product categories and merchants you want to see for a customized Ben's Bargains shopping experience.

Tell me what you like about the new features!

So now when I view comments and press the 'Back' button on my browser, instead of taking me back to where I was in the previous page, it takes me back to the TOP of the previous page and I have to scroll down to wherever I was to continue. This in not progress.

Completely agree with RakuRay on the mouseover menu dropdowns. Whoever invented those worthless things should have his skin flayed from his/her body. Who wants menus droping down in front of the deals without any intended request? Remove those junky things and give us menus that we click to actuate, or at least give us a way to suppress the stupid things in the user's profile. Make your site better than the rest by fixing this.

Dislike. The site was already slow enough. The flash makes it even slower.

    Stop with the moronic animation.

    This WAS a nice site.

Now we are supposed to be so stupid we can't read and we need flashing and blinking and popping and rolling and scrolling to show us what we should read.

STOP with the flashing and blinking and popping and rolling and scrolling garbage, we are NOT so stupid we can't read what we want to read.

Something changed in the way comments are posted too...I noticed that they don't appear immediately as they used to, there's some weird delay now...or maybe it's just me...did anyone else notice this?

I would rather Ben spend a little time to put a slight, very slight time delay in the mouseover script for the menus. Every single time I move my mouse over these they hit bens server and pop up the menu. I want to be able to move to my browser bars and tabs without the menu droping down on screen.

The menus are preloaded with the page, there is no additional hit on the server.

Filters could be helpful but please remove the expired deals. The 75% off Timberland @ 6pm is expired.

Deals that have expired will be marked as such on the homepage deal listings but not in the forum listings.

Sometimes finding changes or expiration of a deal depends on someone reporting it. Reporting things like this can be done on the "Contact Ben" page here:
    http://bensbargains.net/contact.php

As for the posting delay, it is not present in the forums but on the front page deals there is a new caching implemented to speed up the site and it causes up to 60 second delay before posts appear.

The menus may be preloaded with the page but they still drop down whenever you mouse over them on the way to doing something else.

The flash animation is not all preloaded and it goes back to the server every time it scrolls through to show you another bargan that Ben thinks you are to dumb to find on the page by yourself.

This is not a step forward. Lean and simple are best.

And your new posts still don't show up for a couple of minutes after you hit Submit.

For those who do not like the new scrolling deals at the top, you can make them stop scrolling like this:

    1) Use Firefox w/Adblock Plus.
    2) Right click on ANY image and choose "Adblock Plus: Block Image".
    4) In the Adblock Plus Filter Rule popup, choose "Custom:" at the bottom and paste this into it replacing what Adblock plus had there:

Finally click the Add Filter button (then refresh the webpage to see the change).
