I have the X3 (not the B version), so take my experience with a grain of salt since Nextar may have corrected the X3's many problems...
Satellite pickup can be very slow. In a residential area near downtown Raleigh, NC (lots of trees, but no tall buildings), it would not pick up a signal. It took about 15 minutes of blind driving (not literally) until it finally told me where I was.... which was about 2 miles from home. This has happened repeatedly.
Maps were old, and updates were not available for 2 years. I don't know how much they would have cost. Their website was useless in trying to look up info on updated maps.
Directions have been very spotty at times... not all the time, but enough to make me want to use the dang thing as a skipping stone. My niece was having a ball at her normally mild-mannered uncle cursing up a storm at a silly piece of electronics.
And, last but not least... After getting a phone with GPS capabilities I was going to give this to a family member to see if they had better luck with it. However, the dang thing will no longer boot up.
