Nice product at a good price.
is this only for ipods?
#2, yes and only the ipod nano specifically.
I saw this at the Nike outlet store. They had a bunch of them for $20. Cool gadget, especially if you run a lot.
if you run at all, you will find that this little gadget is AMAZING! I absolutely love it, and can't rave about it enough! I'd pay $100 for it, easily. I still can't believe they are so cheap.
the only complaint i have about it is that you have to use the ipod nano with it. come on apple, at least support the touch!
My complaint is that you can't recharge it. Once the battery is dead, you have to throw it away and buy a new one. How wasteful and inconvenient is that?
Also, I wouldn't bother buying a specific shoe for it. I'm sure there's a way to use it without that.
Otherwise, a great deal for the whole shebang (including an armband).
will this work/fit in any shoe? Brand of shoe that is.
The best part about this thing is when you finish your runs, random famous athlete people chime in with words of encouragement.
"This is Lance Armstrong, you just beat your best mile time. Keep up the good work."
Overall this thing kicks ass, and you don't need to buy the corresponding 125 Nikes, there are plenty of places on the web that show you where to put it in other shoes, etc.
Surprised it still only works with the Nano though. That's kinda lame.
It's supposed to only work with Nike+ shoes, but on E-bay and some smaller running shoe stores, they sell little pouches that lace into your shoelaces that hold the transmitter. These work very well. Running around a 1/4 mile track, I find the system to be accurate to within a few strides per lap.
Instead of buying a pair of Nike+ shoes or buying an expensive pouch, I recommend Bosco's Sensor Pouch...cheap, fast shipping, and works just really/equally well. just search for it on google
Umm... does it seriously have encouragement? I can't iamgine that being true...
#12: it does! Famous athletes compliment you when you reach milestones, such as your fastest mile ever, your longest run ever, your first 250 miles, etc... Lance Armstrong, Paula Radcliffe...
This little gadget is the best reason to buy an iPod nano. It works extremely well, I bought mine when they first came out and the battery is still going.
There are a variety of gadgets that let you use the sensor with regular shoes; my favorite is the Marware velcro shoe pouch (under $5)
#12, yea and when you reach 1000 miles... hot women will come up to you and offer you their numbers. Reach 2000 miles, and m0f0 will come up to you a chowder all over you.
This is the only reason I have an Apple .mp3 player. The software is still off with 3rd gen nanos, but this interfaces seamlessly with 1st and 2nd gen. Also, Nike made it waterproof (I've put it through a washing machine cycle), so you don't have to worry about it's exposure to elements. I have mine safety in a zip lock baggie, which is safety pinned on my Ascics shoes. Really, I can't say enough good things about this product.
It's important to note that the armband included in this bundle will NOT work with the 3rd Gen Nanos. I stopped by the Apple store and asked them.
The Nike+ kit, no armband, is $19.99 http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/productdetail/module--productDetail/action--view/sku--0001101/model_nbr--70834/supercat--home/id--0/mvp--/cm--Cross+Sell/, with S/H at $6.99 and 8 to 10 calendar days for delivery, it's not much cheaper than getting it at <a rel="nofollow" href="/merchants/amazon-coupons-3/jump/" target="_new">Amazon.com, who usually gets it in the box and shipped out, with free shipping, within 24 hours and it arrives within 2-3 days. I'd pay the $2 more to get it from <a rel="nofollow" href="/merchants/amazon-coupons-3/jump/" target="_new">Amazon, to make sure you have it before Christmas --> http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MA365LL-B-Nike-Sport/dp/B000JVFKH8/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1197516247&sr=8-1
As far as using it with non-Nike+ shoes, I found this device, which sells for $11 + $5 shipping on <a rel="nofollow" href="/merchants/ebay-coupons-9/jump/" target="_new">Ebay, for $11 with shipping, direct from SwitchEasy --> http://www.switcheasy.com/buynow/index.htm, select the RunAwayâ„¢ Crystal (or color of your choice).
