Good price for a decent camera. I ended up with a refurb D60 for $400, but if I would've seen this deal, I would've jumped on it.

This camera will do everything you need as a beginner SLR user, and this is a good price point to get in on.

i bought a d40 about 2 months ago, paid just over 400 from amazon, and i couldn't be happier. unless you are a pro photographer, this is an excellent choice to enter the DSLR group.

my father has the d90 and the only advantage he has over me is the ability to record video, but with my savings i can buy a better hd video camera. Wink

Great point #2. I think Nikons are great cameras but I had one (not this model) where I did have to send it in due to a couple groups of pixels that went bad in the sensor. This was a 4 megapixel (yes, it was a while back) so a few bad pixels were noticeable.

On the other hand, that camera has more bad pixels now, so I wonder if that's normal with age, that sensor sucks, or maybe Nikon isn't everything it's supposed to be. The pro I talked to at the time swore by Nikons and Cannons. Heck if I know.

a couple of my friend own this and they love it. I have the Canon Rebel XLR 6.3 megapixel and love it as well. I'm really debating on getting this one as the price right down my alley.
