Abes is legit and has good prices. I bought my camcorder there about a year ago. They do call you to "verify your order" and to sell accessories. It is their way of trying to be more profitable because their prices are so low.

If you don't mind putting up with the follow-up call they can be a source for some really good deals.

Not sure if abes is really legit or not. I found a whole forum talking about how shady they are even though they've been "around" for such a long time. In the end I tried to order it anyway and they tried to pull a fast one on me, but asking to "confirm information" and the "sales rep" I had never returned any calls, so I just canceled my order through the credit card company.

Also, just a heads up other people had said if you were to call customer service asking for an exchange/refund they will give you a hard time and probably not even talk to you. I really wanted this camera too, but I'll have to wait for other deals. Sad

Adorama sells this refurbished for $375
      http://www.adorama.com/INKD40KR.html

They rate 9.16/10 on resellerratings. My own experience with them has been limited, but positive.

      D40 is good
      D40x is better
      D60 is the best
      (check reviews)
all have some compact case...D60 is a better investment if you hunting for a very good SLR camera from Nikon.

The D60 is actually a D40 body with a few more card-clogging pixels, a VR lens and adaptive dynamic range, but a slower maximum shutter speed with flash.

The D60 is less sensitive to light then the D40 (its default ISO is only ISO 100 compared to the D40's default ISO of 200). Its less sensitive to light because the pixels have to be made smaller to cram more of them into the same-sized sensor. Smaller pixels collect fewer photons than larger pixels. Since the D60 is half as light sensitive, the D60 has to use twice as long a shutter speed or a larger aperture, which makes it more likely to make a blurry picture than the D40. OOPS!

Save your money and get the D40 instead. The D40's faster sync speed is invaluable for use with flash outdoors, and the extra light sensitivity in normal use will help make sharper pictures. These three cameras (D40, D40x, D60) otherwise, for most users, are identical. Compare them in person and you'll see.

Stay away from Abe's! They have several lawsuits against them for bait and switch.

Abes may be legit, in terms of legal business, but they are a PITA, and I will NEVER EVER buy anything from them again. I'm sorry I ever did.

I bought the D40 from Abes and received the confirmation call. They just tried to sell me a lens filter..I said no..that was it. Camera arrived a few days later.
