Good find #1, but the online store is OOS. Try search them at your local Target store.

It's sold out online right now but you can still get it at that price; it's just going to be shipped out on 8/25

I use mine with R4DS to watch movies on the plane, or when camping. Much more convenient than a laptop, and much better battery life.

#8, about the R4DS, can DS read 2Gb or just 1Gb micro SD?

New DSi is causing DS lite to come down in price. Look for used as people upgrade to DSi and gets rid of old DS lite. I would get DSi instead of old DS lite. I've seen low as 150 on sale.

Couple of thoughts. First, #4...not sure about all adapters. I've got the M3DS Real and it handles SDHC (4GB) no problem. I'd guess all the adapters can do it (many sites will bundle with hi-capacity cards).

Second, my kids each have their own DS, and we're tempted to move up to the DSi. But consider it objectively: you lose the GBA slot (BFD), and gain two cameras. Even with the increased functionality (g, picture and music support) on the DSi, I think for now the third-party adapter solution with our DS is much more versatile. We run Sakura--it plays video and music beautifully, has a little bit of physics in the GUI, and our 4GB card holds well over 50 games. All that on the DS, and really none of it happens natively on the DSi (don't know about the adapter market for the DSi yet).

It's also important to remember, as a business model, that for now there are no DSi-only games. Given what Nintendo has done with the Wiimote, that is, added the new sensors and a few specific games, I'd guess that they may try to add a few games that only work with the DSi, but not many. Again, what I'm arguing for is "buy the DS for $50-$70 less" and you get very close to the same machine as the DSi. That may change in 1-2 years, but for now I think the logic holds.

Prefer the DS for the lower price and the GBA slot. Also, many of the R4 type flash cards don't work on the DSi, especially with the new firmware upgrade.

#14 When my son had his Pokemon phase, transferring Pokemon from his GBA card (I think it was "Emerald") to the DS ("Diamond" or "Pearl") was a really cool trick. I thought it was a great idea for Nintendo to do that...they make some extra bucks, and our kids get a whole lot of extra play out of their older games. Too bad they didn't make better use of that feature.
