Barnes & Noble has the Nintendo DS Lite System (Crimson/Black, Black, Pink) for $130 + $5 shipping - 20% off using PayPal = $108 shipped. The DS Lite is one of the most popular and innovative (not to mention fun) portable gaming systems. Nintendo is facing a new threat to the DS. [Review : BizRate]

You know what else is "a new threat to the DS"? Having a social life and not being a douche bag.

Is the r4 another solder solution or plug-n-play? Google is failing me

Not really that much of a deal since you'll be paying tax unless you're in a no sales tax state. Price is more like $115. I unfortunately bought two from Amazon for my kids for $130 w/ free shipping. Not worth returning to save $20 after paying for return shipping. Oh well.

that price tracker takes the paypal 20% into account.. so that, along with holiday deals have caused this to come way down (on paper at least)

The R4DS (the most common version) plugs into the regular DS cartridge port. You load roms on a microSD card and plug it into the R4DS. Blammo, pirated games.

Of course, it's useful even if you don't pirate. The R4DS lets you take a dozen games with you without carrying any extra cartridges.

Anyway, I'd recommend getting one... Especially since, for obvious reasons, they may not be on the market indefinitely.

The bundles with Zelda or Nintendogs are $150. The consoles by themselves are still $130.

#11, Do you mean that I can backup my games from the cartridges on to an SD card just using the R4DS. And then just use R4DS with the SD card in it to play the games ??

No, it doesn't provide a means of backing up your own games. You can get other equipment to do that, or just download pre-made roms (google "ds roms", "nds roms", or check your favorite P2P).

Another advantage to the R4DS is that it stores your savegames as files right on the microSD, so you can manage them easily.

I wonder if prices will drop even further on this.. I don't really need a ds (as I have a pc, 360 and a wii), but the R4 thing seems like a great advantage (although it's like $70).. hmm decisions..
