"full 480p performance" WOO HOO!
480p performance.... I don't think it's worth the $7... go get yourself a sandwich.
I don't think 480p can be considered "High Definition" just because it's progressive scan.
Cheaper at deal extreme. I bought 2 already.
To #4 and anyone else who has these cables. Is it a noticeably better image than the composite output?
#4 - So, you've already had to replace one...
#5 - definitely. http://members.iinet.net.au/~panic/SOTC_comparison.jpg
#6 - which picture is the good one?
I have one of these cables. The resolution is negligible at best. Would it have killed Nintendo to give us HDMI?
#8 Probably. The Wii has nowhere near the graphics power of the XBox 360 or PS3. It doesn't really have the graphics capacity to drive games running at such high resolutions. The graphics chips are the most expensive parts of these consoles. That's a big part of why it costs less.
I looked at http://members.iinet.net.au/~panic/SOTC_comparison.jpg.
I can't say I see a definitive winner. The left image seems to have better definition for the figure. The tree looks better in the right image.
Perhaps the improvement is more prevalent in motion (progressive), because I don't see a big difference here.
However, for seven bucks, it may be worth a try.
Looked again. Not exactly the same picture, so I might give an edge to the image on the right. Is that the component connection?
The sharpness was the same but the colors looked a little more vibrant.
they're all crap. find better use with your money
i want a sandwich!!
In response to #4, i bought the same thing for my PS2 from DX and it fell apart in 2 minutes of hanging from the back of the TV. Never again.
If buy.com is selling them they can't be as bad as the DX bacon.
Wow, you really want to compare the Wii to the PS3 and Xbox? Let's check out sales:
Worldwide sales figures
1. Wii – 50.39 million, as of 31 March 2009
2. Xbox 360 – 30.20 million, as of 1 January 2009
3. PlayStation 3 – 22.73 million, as of 31 March 2009
Hmm...looks like motion sensing is a bit more impt than nice graphics alone. The point of this deal isn't to hate on nintendo graphics, but to get a better cable for the 50.39mil people that have a Wii worldwide....and if you cared about US numbers:
US sales figures (as of November 2008)
1. Wii – 13.4 milllion
2. Xbox 360 – 11.6 million
3. PlayStation 3 - 5.7 million
here's a better comparison: http://au.gamespot.com/features/6162297/p-2.html?sid=6162297&page=2
#17's link shows a fairly significant improvement. I think its worth the $7 - I'm going for this deal!
Wow #16, your comparison seems completely useless in a discussion such as this one. What's the point of comparing console sales when we are looking at native resolutions?
All the other posters are simply stating the capabilities of each system, and why someone would buy a product like this, not whether its better or worse.
The fact that this product's usefulness seems low is because of the minute difference between standard res of regular composite cables over the small increase to 480p.
it seems better when using this cable
