RadioShack.com has the Nintendo Wii Console by itself for $250 + $0 shipping = $250 shipped. Also be careful with the controller, lest you injure yourself and wind up as yet another Wii injury statistic. [BizRate]

Anybody who believes Nintendo isn't manipulating supply, I have some swampland which backs up to a nuclear waste dump site to sell you.

The Wii has been out for what, 2 years this winter, and the company still can't figure out how to supply the market?

Nothing but a sales gimmik just so new owners can brag how they feel they were among the lucky ones to get their hands on one. And it allows Nintendo to continue making headlines by scaling the supply just enough to outdo Sony and Microsoft on sales figures each month and not quickly saturate the market. It also allows them to throttle the folks who acquire fatigue with the console, therefore expanding its product lifecycle.

#2: I've got a Wii. Ha Ha! That's right, I'm one of the lucky ones. Go ahead and suck it!

The belief is that more units are being allocated to Europe and Asia b/c of the weak USD, lowering their profit margin here.

Well, it was a good price while still in stock. Everywhere else was more expensive.

#2, do you really think Nintendo would risk having potential sales go elsewhere because the Wii is out of stock? The fact of the matter is Nintendo is doing everything they can to meet demand. It's in their best interest to. They can't build a factory that will be on a company books for the next 30 years to meet a two or three year demand. That's just bad business.

Nintendo is pure genius. They marketed it perfectly. Demand is still high, Never had to change pricing, developers are producing more titles, (good or bad), and they fact that they are hard to find increases demand even more. They created the forbidden fruit, and everyone who doesn't have one still foams at the mouth when someone gets them in stock. Not to mention parents compare pricing on the 3 consoles, and go to Wii because it keeps the kids occupied at the cheapest price.

if you have hard-time finding stand-alone wii, just buy the bundle system and then return all the stuff that you don't want. It works for Walmart & Circuit City at least. Don't know about GameStop.

We bought our Wii back in June at Target. They had 5-10 left...if you can't find a Wii during these summer months, far from the holiday season, you've got some incredibly bad luck.
