GameStop.com has the Nintendo Wii Console by itself on pre-order for $250 + $9 shipping = $259 shipped. Ships on 1/23. Also be careful with the controller, lest you injure yourself and wind up as yet another Wii injury statistic.

kaorder1 - why are you so angry & bitter? You want to "blame" it on marketing. Well it's not marketing that makes people enjoy games. Good games make people enjoy good games. Is it so hard to comprehend that people buy a console because they enjoy the games on it? Maybe you don't, which is fine, you can buy something else. Doesn't bother me or most anyone else. Be happy that there's a market for different types of games & consoles, and that you're not stuck with one choice.

In my area the Wii is definitely always out of stock. I check out of curiosity whenever i am in a Target or Best Buy - never there. As for the fanboy wars, stop putting Wii alongside PS3/360 - if you are a hardcore gamer who loves FPS obviously the Wii's hardware won't compare. Buy a wii to own a wii, don't buy one because you think its the answer to all all your video game needs.

I shot a personal high 266 on wii bowling this weekend. Its a lot of fun for adults at a party who aren't interested in high end gaming, just some fun entertainment. The fact that it appeals to a different market doesn't mean its a bad system.

I have both Wii and PS3. I like both for different reasons. I really like Wii Fit and the workout it provides. The other games provide good exercise as well. My PS3... Well, I'm sure it increases my heartrate, but doesn't provide the active involvement the Wii does.

#13 is correct. If you have young kids, there is very little for them on the PS3 or Xbox (assuming you are an little-over protective parent and don't think your 5 year old should be shooting zombies all day)

Most my kids friends now have wii's at home, only one has one of the other boxes, and that was because they also have a teenager.

Besides, neither of the other boxes have something like the Wii fit. Nothing like sking in the comfort of your own home Smile

Can't Wii all just get along?

"I shot a personal high 266 on wii bowling this weekend."

You mean you haven't bowled a perfect game yet Smile I've managed a perfect game twice in the 3 months I've had the Wii. Only problem is that nobody wants to bowl against me any more Sad

Why does nutzo pretend that he had anyone to play with in the first place? Aside, of course, from his still-in-package mint condition Han Solo figurine.

Sorry, but me and my friends already have Wii. After playing Call of Duty World at War, my friends said that Wii aren't their cup of tea.

Don't forget Xbox Live Arcades and PSNetwork have a lot of casual games that are sold exclusively online only. A lot of them plays better than Wii virtual consoles, Wii ware, or even the disc media. So I guess "broader" audience is because a lot of the people don't even know what games are available via DOWNLOADABLE SERVICE ONLY from XBOX LIVE ARCADE and PLAYSTATION STORE.

    #23,
PC gamers no need to be proud of themselves. XBOX 360 and PS3 are also PCs specific for gaming. True gamers are going for the exclusive titles on the consoles. Moreover, less technical configuration and guarantee working games in high quality without keeping up with the PC system requirement are the advantages on today's consoles.

XBOX 360: Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Fable, Mass Effect trilogy, Frozer 2, Project Gotham, Final Fantasy XIII, Street Fighter IV, Tekken 6 and many more.

PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Killzone2, Call of Duty 4, Battlefield Bad Company, Valkyria Chronicles etc

Excellent games in consoles and portables keeps on going, while PC games varieties nowadays are stagnant.

Well PC gamers, keep enjoying your web based flash games, mini games like Bejeweled2, emulators, FPS, RTS, and the limited genre, while console gamers can keep enjoying other innovative and fun games.

#35, yeah that means consoles are fun and a lot more games to choose from than Windows or Mac OS games.

    Let me restate the statement.
Windows, Linux or Mac Games don't have as many game varieties than PlayStation 3, XBOX360, Wii, PSP, NDS, iPhone, G1, etc.

Not PC versus consoles nowadays, it's different operating systems competition nowadays.

    1) PC online play will always be better than XBOX 360/PS3 for FPS games because KB/Mouse is more superb to any hand held controller. If you don't agree, you're a fool because you probably haven't played those kind of games long enough on a PC to know the difference. I've heard u can use KB/mouse w/ xbox, but no one does that and you might as well go PC if that's the case.

    2) The quality of games for 360/PS3 are obviously better than Wii for the most part, but you need to be more than the casual gamer to have time for them. I have a Wii now and I love it, even though I only currently play Wii Fit and Mario kart online. I only play 3-4 hrs a week max. I know I'd love 360/PS3 games, but I just don't have time for their lengthy (yet fun) games. Online would be fun, but I play Mario Kart w/ my girlfriend and I doubt she'd wanna play Call of Duty w/ me.

    3) It's not a marketing thing as the reason Wii is rocking. PS3 is doing HORRIBLE even though their games are EXCELLENT, but they are only for "hardcore gamers", and the console is $400 for the average consumer. IGN.com has already rated PS3 as the best console, but their sales say much different. I define hardcore gamer as someone else said, "losers w/ time". Don't feel insulted, just accept that label because you know it's true, for the most part anyways.

Basically, Wii rocks for me because it's more than just the typical FPS or RPG. If I wanted to play FPS or online games, I'd go PC because of the KB/mouse and bigger online community. I miss out on fighting games and RPGs, but i dont' have time for them anyways (ex. to be good at Tekken takes too much time, I've tried :-/)

#38, I 100% agree with you about FPS using mouse and keyboard. That's why I think PS3's Unreal Tournament 3 is better because it supports both controller and mouse & keyboard.

I know some girls also play Call of Duty. In fact I know a lot more girls play Call of Duty than other FPS.

You are absolutely correct regarding to hardcore gamers on PS3. But XBOX 360 does have very large library of casual games for guys and girls. I think it's a lot more fun than Wii. Plus Xbox 360 offers you an option to go for hardcore games if you want to. Anyway, if you don't have time on games, that's good coz you have a girl friend to play with HAHAH.

How the hell is this a deal? It's MSRP. If you want a Wii @ MSRP, use the burp wii tracker. This doesn't belong on the deals page.
