GameStop.com has the Nintendo Wii Console by itself on pre-order for $250 + $9 shipping = $259 shipped. Ships on 1/23. Also be careful with the controller, lest you injure yourself and wind up as yet another Wii injury statistic.

It's too bad TS2's rantings got lost in all the white noise...he needs to bust out the "go drink some bleach and die" line. That always made me laugh...

Well, I have a xbox 360 for the hard core games like Halo3 and GoW1 and 2. There is NO doubt the 360 wins hands down for the gamers-at-heart. Solid title lineup on an ok-reliabile machine (I'm on my 3rd 360!). All said and done, my buddy has a Wii and the women generally prefer a social Wii game to our Halo3 fragfest. So I'm planning on getting a Wii for my wife ... if she likes it, it's earned my money: top notch graphics or not.

I'm a little surprised by other gamers b!tching about the Wii ... it's a gaming system and obviously the (free) market has spoken with its dollar bills. Your minority opinion is noted, but just as that - a minority opinion. Good day to you!

    #20, that article is bullshit.

Physical therapy is about the slow repairing of muscles/tendons and the regaining of mobility and strength. Rapid, unpredictable movements, such as those involved with playing the Wii, would never be recommended by any doctor with half of a brain.

That's pretty funny. #46 must be a doctor or something. Actually, I think he's probably only high school educated, and not connected to the medical community in any way shape or form.

I can point you to any number of articles on the subject. Just google wii and physical therapy..

I think I'll take the advice of medical professionals who are in the field rather than some high school educated rodeo cowboy that thinks he knows it all.

"Why are people still buying these like hotcakes? The cost factor argument isnt really valid because after buying games and accesories your net cost is equal to or greater than buying another system ie. Xbox 360 or PS3"

Actually, the cost argument is completely out the window. XBOX 360 went for cheaper ($170 for arcade version) over the holidays, and Wii still outsold it about 2 to 1.

So it's not price and not graphics. Maybe it's just more fun? Anyone who thinks Nintendo is only for kids hasn't looked at a Nintendo console since the GameCube. I know grandmothers who play the Wii. (And I can tell you, they wouldn't even consider a PS3 or XBOX!)

You buy a Wii because if you package it right you can make a nice chunk of change on FleaBay. That's why.
