Dell has the Nintendo Wii on sale for $184 with free shipping. Add item to cart to receive discounted price. Includes remote, nunchuk, Wii Sports, sensor bar, console stand, AC adapter, and composite A/V cable.
True #1, Even with sales tax its still less than buying at store. The best deal was probably the WalMart one where you got a 50 dollar GC, making it 150 for the wii.
Please, Please.... don't buy this piece of crap. with an extra 100 bucks, you can get the PS3 with Bluray, wireless connection and a 120 gig HD with it. Or the 360 (although the hardware is close to being maxed out). Why in the name of holy hell would you want a last gen. product? Unless you already own a PS3 or 360???
Depends on the audience. Wii has tons of games for younger audiences. Xbox and PS3 graphics are awesome, and features are cool, but fewer games for kids.
Right now my son and I enjoy the Wii. Eventually we'll graduate to something better.
Any more, it seems the question isn't about which console to get, but which to get *next*. Most people that I know with consoles have more than one, or are considering getting others.
Yes it does, but it actually has no health benefits according to recent studies done by researchers (please google articles for this) into claims by nintendo of "excercising" to keep healthy. So after a rough day at work, the last thing anyone wants to do is to wave around a controller and "move" (if you categorize flipping your wrist as moving) so you can get your excercise. Bottom-line, if I wanted a work out and actually be healthy, I'd go play some hoops with my buddies or actually hit the tread-mill.
I still prefer Wii over PS3. Wii is good for the kids since most of its games are non-violent and easy for the kids to follow. It is true that playing Wii games can't substitute actual workout, but this is something that the whole family can enjoy.
I disagree about the workout point. I just bought Grand Slam Tennis for the Wii and I was out of breath and sweating after a couple 3 game matches. This game is much more realistic than the Wii tennis game and you have to swing much more than "flipping your wrist" to do well. It showed that I burned about 25 calories after each match. I know that's not much but its much better exercise than any of the default Wii games. I highly recommend it for any tennis fans. I played as Nadal and slugged it out with Federer. What a blast.
The wii is a cool concept, but most of the games are things you can do in real life with real friends. Were as The PS3 and 360 have more fantasy based or shooting type games that you cannot do in real life. Pick up a tennis racket and go make some flesh and blood friends.
The wii simply targets a different demographic than the PS3 and XB. Little kids, old farts and families tend to like the wii. Young adult males tend to like the PS3/XB. It's almost pointless to compare them because they're almost different products. It's like comparing a road bike with a stunt bike. One is usually for teens and one is usually for 20-somethings and up.
But let's give credit where credit is due. The Wii is ushering in the next generation of gaming. Google "Johnny Chung Lee" and see what he did with the Wii remote. The infrared LED goggle concept will change things. Pretty cool. He works for Microsoft now...
I snagged the Wlmart dealw/50 gift card. Bought the fit for my wife and I and then some kids games for the rest of the family. I feel comfortable buying games for the Wii - whereas I'm half scared to pick something up for the other two systems (yep, I can read the ratings).
@ #5, how much of a fanboy/hater are you that other people buying a system makes you unhappy and that you have to beg people not to buy a wii. Sickening. I play both the PS3 and Wii btw.
Agree with #17. People should buy what they want and leave the rest alone to get what's right for them.
#5, you may be suprised to learn that the Wii is the same generation as your precious PS3. Yes, it's underpowered in comparison, but they knew that when it went to market and it sold 50 million compared to 27 million PS3s (as of October anyway). Nintendo is doing something right.
For what it's worth, I own neither but am more inclined to get a PS3 despite my wife and daughter's preference for a Wii.
i'm gonna throw my two cents in and say that I own both a PS3 and a Wii (AND a PC). Why does it have to be an exclusive choice? Many families have two cars, one for work and one for taking the family out. I like to play mario and smash and other party games on the wii when my friends are over, but also mw2 and brutal legend and fallout on my ps3.
note: ok it actually took me a while to remember what I used my ps3 for, it's been a while since I've actually used it for gaming instead of watching DVDs and Blu-rays.
Dell store does charge sales tax for most areas, but that still makes this less money than what you would pay in store new.

buy.com also had it for 169.99 free ship, no tax, with bing cashback of 8% ($156 total)....also an expired piece of bacon
It looks like discounts on accessories on the order of this one won't materialize.

The best thing about the wii, is that it actually makes you move. It does not allow you to sit and push buttons.
Interesting point #5. Hmm.. But #6 makes a great point.

PC and a Wii a combination that rules!
