Just buy some rechargeable AA's! Then you can use them in more than just the wiimote
the stand makes is easier to use as I do not need to keep removing the batteries and putting them in a charger- I just drop the wii controller in the stand when I am done playing and it is charged when I want to play again. I have the Nyko version (charges 2 remotes at a time) and I love it.

One 'problem' with the Nyko (and probably this one too) is that I have to remove the safety strap to put it in the charger- but I don't swing the remote like the guys in those videos, so I think I am ok...
