Newegg has the Nintendo Wii U 8GB White Edition w/ 3 Games for $480 + $14 shipping = $494 shipped. The games include Nintendoland, New Super Mario Bros Wii U and ZombiU. Not a deal by any stretch of the imagination - this is list price + shipping. However, the Nintendo Wii U is going to be hard to come by at its list price this season. Official release date is November 18th.

I still think the Wii U is going to end up being a joke just like the Wii is now. It was cool at first and still cool if you can have a big enough room for multiple people to play some games but for the most part, they collect dust.

With the graphics on the Wii looking like a N64, even if they have the best graphics Nintendo can do it still wont be close to the PS4 or Xbox720 (names are wrong but you get the idea).

Good luck to Nintendo in that first year to sell as many as they can to make profit before they get laughed at and stuck on a shelf to collect dust.

I would think it won't sell nearly as we'll as the wii did, however don't underestimate spoiled kids with parents flipping backwards to get them every new gadget that's out there lest they feel inferior to their peers. These are the same kids who have both ps3 and Xbox sitting at home collecting dust.

I have a wii, 360, ps3. Loved and love the wii. Loved and love 360. Do not use PS3 at all. Not for games or for movies. It collects dust. I laugh at it. So I guess the point is... to each his own.

Nintendo has been the inovator. Microsoft and Sony focused too hard on hard core gamers and Nintendo scoped up the casual family gamers. This caused Microsoft and Sony to play catch up with their motion controllers. Correct me if I am wrong but the Wii out sold 360 and PS3?

      Nintendo Wii 97.18 million

Sony PlayStation 3 (PS2 sales from 2012 added as well) 70.2 million

      Microsoft Xbox 360 70.27 million

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_game_consoles

Does Nintendo have good exclusive properties that are fun to play? IMHO Yes.

Will Nintendo continue to inovate? IMHO Yes.

Will I buy a next gen Xbox? Yes.

Will the next gen Xbox be better then Wii U? Of course. For obvious reasons and different ways. Better graphics maybe. Xbox Live network. Integration with third party vendors like ESPN, Disney, Netflix etc. (I understand Nintendo might have some of these deals)

Nintendo is releasing their next gen console first. This is a short term advantage especially taking into consideration there are no other real competing "Must have" Cabbage Patch, Elmo holiday gifts.

Additionally the supply chain is being squeezed intentionally or not. This will create buzz and increased demand.

Yeah thought the wii was a brilliant idea however this new console doesnt really thrill me. The extra monitor seems like a ho hum idea. However maybe im wrong, also the price is WAY too high right now for one. Cheaper to buy a xbox with some games $300 vs 450 for the wii U

I think the point you are making is why by a Wii U when you could have an Xbox and have the same experience for less.

The Wii U is a new next gen system. It comes with a handheld and a console. It is the new hotness.
Oh you have a 360 you say? seen it.
      PS3... meh been there.
Wii U... oh come on let me try it out...stop hogging the controller... I want to play.

You already probably have an xbox 360 or PS3 at this point. It has been 7 years. If you do not are you really a hard core gamer anyway?

Wii U supply is squeezed. Where you can readily get an Xbox or PS3. You cannot readily get a Wii U.

I mean to look at the Wii and say "this console is a joke" is to be ignorant and uninformed. Did you not pick up the box and read that it was not anything like a xbox 360 or PS3 in power? Did you not know it was geared to casual gaming? Did you not know it was a completely different play experience with motion controls? Can you play Nintendo classic new release exclusives like Mario Bros, Zelda and Metriod on 360 and PS3? Who is really at fault Nintendo or you because you bought it expecting it to be an xbox 360. Can you honestly tell me that you do not have fun with the bowling or with Mike Tyson's Punch out or 20 other titles for the Wii?

Look at the launch titles for Wii U: Black Ops 2 and Zombie U are what I would consider hard core titles.
Time, give the Wii U time to at least come out before tombstoning it.

Will Wii Ulive up to wii sales? I doubt it. But neither did the 360 or PS3.
