T-Mobile has a second business... that of screwing those who start their service and decide T-Mobile isn't good enough. This is my experience, and from talking to T-Mobile reps., screwing those who don't like them is a very big business for T-Mobile.

T-Mobile is like other very large companies that have deep pockets. They'll lie, steal, cheat and intimidate you *because they can*.

I'm not big on bad mouthing companies and I have to be very sure that a company (not just a rogue employee) has deliberately done someone evil before I'll be a party to bad mouthing them. T-Mobile is just such a company. They deserve a website in their honor entitled www.t-mobilesucks.com though no one yet is angry enough at them to spend their time and money to paint the picture and draw the negative attention that T-Mobile deserves.

Seeing as this is a prepaid phone, they could care less if you change service. There is no commitment or contract on your part.

You do have to make at least one call to get the rebate.

This may not work. Fine print on the rebate says it's not valid for prepaid service or something.

#1 I hear ya, but all telephone companies suck, so what can you do.

I must differ with all, even if the phone is $30 without rebate, to setup prepaid with no free phone is $50 ($25 for sim and $25 worth of minutes) so this is still an extreme deal even if you through the phone in the garbage.

I got a similar deal (same free phone -- no rebate) by buying a prepaid card at Target. Bought a second one for the SIM card and battery. Unlocked it with a free unlock code on the web, but T-Mobile will send you the code after a couple months service. Screen is a little hard to read (very hard in sunlight) but T-Mobile coverage has been great for me. Once you buy $100 of minutes all subsequent purchases work out to $.10 a minute. Roaming in NC on SunComm network is the same rate. Easy transfer of my old number from ATT.

#4... Rebate link is from Ben's, check the details description
    #10... Couldn't agree more
How the hell one checks out the phone via their site. Does anyone know what service plan are they talking about? It says "add a service plan to your cart.....blah blah blah". How do you complete the checkout process. I'm clueless. Feel free to hit me in the head if I'm missing something.

T-Mobile is a good service and it's far better than being stuck with a big bill every month. They are tricky though so always check if you are getting what they promise. They didn't give me the 15% bonus minutes you earn for buying the $100 card until I called them on it.
