Barnes & Noble has the NOOK 7" Touchscreen Tablet on pre-order for
$249 with free shipping. Seems like it'll be playing catch-up with the Kindle Fire, but does have twice the storage (16GB vs. 8GB for the Fire) and integrated Netflix and Hulu Plus. Release date is November 18th.
TI OMAP4 1.0GHz, 7" touchscreen (1024x600), Android 2.3 OS
802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, up to 32GB MicroSD, free cloud storage
"playing catch-up with the Kindle Fire"?
In what way. This is a great e-reader and some of the specs are better than the Kindle's specs. The microSD slot also means easy hacking.
#1 in what way? How about being announced 1 month after and cost $50 more? The Kindle Fire have a full month of pre-order and have a chance to be the fastest selling tablet ever including the ipad. So yeah there are some catching up to do. Stats aren't everything.
#2, SD slot is worth a LOT more than the $50 extra. It's the difference between a device that's hackable/upgradable, and one that's not.
Because the NT has the SD slot I bet it will run Android 4.0 (ICS) many months sooner than the KF.
And it is certainly not "catching up" in screen technology... The Nook has $50 more value there alone. Not to take away from the SD slot.
And you are not tied into what apps Amazon thinks is good for downloading.
And to take advantage of the Fires best benefits, you'll pay $80 for Prime. But yes, it is at least a month behind the Fire. But does that really matter if YOU haven't ordered one.

Yes, but will it blend?
