DailySteals has the refurbished nook color Wi-Fi eBook Reader (BNRV200) for $150 with free shipping. Features a 7" color display with 16 million colors, Wi-Fi support, 8GB internal storage, and micro SD support.
this is a good deal as i've bought refurb from dailysteals before (always in perfect condition) and it's free shipping on fridays ($5 per item all other days).
if you don't trust dailysteals and are willing to wait, then barnes & nobles might eventually have it available for the same price through their ebay store. their ebay store page currently says $180, but the actual ebay listing is $200, though i'm interested to see how pricing adjusts to the fire.
i have the nook color, rooted and flashed with cyanogenmod. i mainly use it as an ebook reader (pdfs mainly, which is why i find a cheaper e-ink reader unacceptable). the ips screen is attractive and the resolution is pretty high (1024x600) for the size (7"). i think the cpu is a little underpowered (800 mhz, single core) as "flicking"/scrolling through pdfs in adobe reader sometimes causes stuttering and after a page or two it starts displaying blank pages until it has time to catch up.
with regard to fire vs nook color: + faster 1 ghz dual-core cpu = same 512 mb ram = same 8 gb flash = presumably similar IPS display = same 802.11b/g/n - no microsd slot + can be charged by usb (the nook color can only be charged with the included ac adapter, though it uses a usb-to-micro-usb cable to plug into that ac adapter).
if i could do it over again right now, i'd still stick with a rooted/flashed refurb nook color (vs fire), but i'm not a big amazon customer (i buy from them when they have the best price but i refuse to buy their drm books).
i wonder how difficult it'll be to root/flash (locked/encrypted bootloader?) and how long until someone discovers that amazon is tracking everybody's activity on the tablet (eg surfing history/habits through the "amazon silk" browser)?
NOOK
:lol:NOOK
Here's hoping to a Nook firesale, I wouldn't mind a $99 Nook.
This is still a better deal until a rootkit comes out for Kindle Fire
rootkit without microSD and only 8GB onboard... meh.

You can't really watch video on this. CPU is too slow. Otherwise, I'd say it's the best tablet for the money, especially at this price.
Also:
- Blue tooth (after hacking)
@undefined, if you have a 1A micro usb charger you can plug it in and it will charge, albeit slowly.
@techsupport
All I do is watch videos and movies on it. No issues at all. CM7 nightlies.
