Don't forget the two twenty dollar rebates, Ben. One of which is an upgrade.
unless they made this less of a resource pig, skip it.
#2, they did, which means you should seriously consider it.
Last time I installed Norton I liked it better with the viruses. It ran much faster. After Norton it became a 1980's beast.
The free ones out there as getting better, I don't know if I'd want pay anymore for this junk.
Shipping is not $5. To Boston area, is $6.39. You mileage may vary too.
Is Panda any good? That one's free after rebate with free shipping.
false advertisment
The several free anti-virus products out there are better than McAfee or Norton.
Sorry crappy two $20 rebates. You will more than likely not qualify for the upgrade rebate, sorry deal. Go with avira for free.
Norton rocks...de best!!!!
#10, I have NEVER had a problem qualifying for the upgrade rebates in the past. They're very clear about what qualifies as an upgradeable antivirus version (OEM does not, that's probably where most people lose out, since they try to upgrade the AV that came with their computer).
The mere fact that any old AV counts as an upgrade means you can dig out the cd for that crappy 10 year old antivirus you used before, send it in, and get your upgrade rebate. Sorry, no valid complaint on that part of your post!
Reviews for 2009 version are far better than the crappy 2007 version that I had. I held it off getting 2008 since performance didn't get much improved and used the free ones. One of my systems got trojans last month and had to spend about 4 hrs to get rid of them. I think it's time to upgrade now and have peace of mind for all 3 home systems.
Ben posted this as a deal, it's not a deal but a Rebate, it's 44.99 with 40 in rebates.
Maximum pc gave it a KickAss! award and 9/10 with a great review.

The 2009 version is much better than any previous version of NAV, and I used to upgrade every year until 2007, when they screwed me out of a rebate (I bought a copy for my mother, but foolishly sent the rebate from my house without seeing the *new* one rebate per address limitation, and they wouldn't bend the rules). I used TrendMicro for two years, but this year decided to give NAV another shot, based on the positive reviews. It's the first AV program that didn't require that I reboot Vista after installation, which is impressive. It just started working. Also, the idle-time scan is great -- can't tell that it's running, and then suddenly the box pops up that says it just finished scanning 3,000,000+ files on my hard disk (have a lot of clipart). I didn't even notice.
Anyway, recommended -- just watch out for the one rebate per household limit, if they're still imposing that restriction.
I'm a big fan of NAV. People might say that it's bloated and slow, but I'd rather have Norton instead of other AV software out there.
The deal changed the day following the original post by Ben. From 40 to 45 and of course 6.40 in postage.
I decided to try Panda
Vista plus Norton? Really? Do you get any work done?
