    I haven't used Norton in several generations, but it was a resource hog. I wouldn't expect it to be any different now.

    #4 - Actually, it's not that bad (I used trial version). However reviews for symantec rebates NOT good.

    #5 is right - new versions are ok - but I still wouldn't take them for free - too much else out there that is free and works from day one.
