Bloatware. I wouldn't put any Norotn or McAfee crap on my system unless you like your system slowing way down. If you want a good free Anti-Virus use Avast Home. Use Spybot and Spywareblaster to keep the crap from getting on your PC in the first place. Use CCLeaner to freely and safely clean your registry. Use Hijack-This to get the tough to clean crap off your PC if you are already infected. ALL OF THESE ARE FREE!

If you must browse for porn there is no need to actually go to any porn sites. Just go to Google, disable filtering, and watch whatever you want through Google's Video page.

I never have any problems whatsoever with viruses, malware, or spam. If you're behind a router then you have all the firewall you need.

Norton Anti-virus 2009 is the fasted (of any brand) and best that I have ever used, and not bloated at all. The same is true for Norton Internet Security suite. You're living in the past (pre-2008). Can't speak for System Works. Never used it.

Avast is free and good.

#2 a router firewall is not adequate protection. If it works for you great! Bad general recommendation for most.. Evidently you don't have kids... Norton got the message and has cleaned up its act. I don't run system works but it should be similar to Internet Security and Utilities combined which I do run and have no problems with.

I've cleaned and fixed hundreds of computers over 15 years and know what I am talking about when it comes to protecting PCs. I know a lot of you think you're tech savvy and know what's up because you read a few message boards but I couldn't care less if Norton has fixed their software. It will always be useless bloatware and useless to buy anything when the same protection with less footprint is freely available. I'm sorry if this give you buyer's remorse for your Norton product

If a router's firewall and the Windows firewall are not adequate enough to protect you from the crap on the net then you've obviously not read my comments about using all the free programs so the unwanted items don't get there in the first place. All I use is DD-WRT on a Buffalo router and the Windows firewall. Are these the best out there? No. Do these work. Hell Yes. No problems ever and my PC stays on 24/7. If your kids answer yes to installing strange ActiveX or add-ons that is your problem. If your kids install games or viruses that punch holes in your router's firewall so you need a more bloated software firewall in order to shut off the internet then again that is your problem. Please by all means slow your PC down to a stand still so you need more memory. It's good for the economy if you keep buying more components.

I have no problems with my kids activity, my wife's work systems, or any of the people's computers I've cleaned. But please don't believe me. Install the programs I listed and see how well that keeps you clean.

SystemWorks used to be one of my favorite products, and then Norton turned this over to India. It bacame "bloatware" at that point and severly slowed down my system. Deinstalling it took a special application to remove all of the tentacles. Most people who thought they had deinstalled Norton were eventually surprised to find that it was still bloating their system in many ways. I recommend going to filehippo.com now and getting one of the free antivirus programs. Also, I have had good luck with McAfee (free for Comcast subscribers). I recommend avoiding Norton bloatware at all costs.

Did I mention that I hate how Norton requires you to re-purchase the software that you already own every so often. I believe that they charge you again yearly for the software that you already own. This is another reason to skip this one.
