$30 price drop. Walmart has the Nostalgia Electrics KRS-2100 Kegerator Keg Beer Dispenser for $299 with free site to store shipping or $13 shipping to home. Features full sized tap, regulator with gauge and accommodates up to a 15.5 gallon 1/2 keg.
half keg of beer is about 7 cases. One beer distributor near Pittsburgh has a half keg of Sam Adams for $150 and cases for $32. 7 cases would be $224, $74 more than the keg. Buy 4 half kegs and this thing pays for itself.
Not sure where you buy beer, #2, but methinks you're getting ripped off.
That hasn't been the case for me, especially if you hit a brewery directly when purchasing a keg. I'm in North Carolina, and tend to get 1/6bbl kegs for my kegerator.
Hitting a local brewery directly I get a 1/6BBL of a quality hefeweizen for $52, it's ~5 gallon, or 53 12oz pours or ~$0.98 a beer. Their 6 packs cost between 8.99 and 9.99, or ~$1.50 to ~$1.66 for 12oz.
Obviously prices vary on kegs, I've paid as high as ~$140 for a 1/6bbl (Dogfish Head 90min), at a local retail store. I'd say the average is around $65 for a 1/6bbl keg. You also have up front costs...
Sure makes clean up after football on Sunday easier, though.
this thing is awesome. Currently on a half barrel of founders breakfast that ran around $280 at consumers beverage in buffalo. I plan to go back to flying bison afterwards as they run $125 1/2 at the brewery
I've already had a few beers and none of these numbers make sense any more. Maybe if I have a few more, things will seem clearer. Wait a minute, I just have to go to the bathroom. Ahhh, that's better. Now, where were we? I forget. Maybe some medicinal product will jog my memory. I think I will move to boulder, CO. Then I can have some good beer and not need a prescription either. That sounds like a good plan. I'll move on this starting tomorrow for sure. In the meantime, my glass is empty.
They also have a SS door one from igloo for the same price:

Using kegs is more expensive than just buying bottles or cans. Would love to have one but not worth the costs.
