OCZ Gold is getting such bad customer ratings they're just trying to give the damn stuff away now.

Getting it isn't a deal, it's a gamble. If it works, yay, if it doesn't, you have to go through a ton of hassle just to get another pair that may or may not work, or your money back.

#1 Thanks.. I saw this afternoon was going to pick one up. The 96 bucks draw my attention, untill I read the poor feedback rating on the OCZ DDR3 memory. I was thinking the same thing what you say, Change my mine due to the hassle of returning back to NE. If everything works perfect 100%. 96 bucks would be a bargain..

A certain % of all memory is bad/DOA, but the reviews for this are most likely due to peoples' inability to set the right timings and voltage, whether it be their own ignorance or inability of their motherboard bios.

They complain the SPD settings aren't 777 timings, but fail to understand that is how it is supposed to be when the memory needs voltage higher than the default, so the system will post and run long enough at failsafe defaults that you can get into the bios and change settings as needed.

So, if you just don't want to fool with any of that, get 8,8,8 timings and 1.5V spec'd memory, or check my motherboard memory compatibility list and bios notes to see what they have tested (keeping in mind that this latter option may still require manually adjusting the bios settings).

#3 Yes, I agree. The moment I saw the bad reviews I did think about that too. I do clock mine. but little at a time untill it crash then I set it back to the 2nd last time I had it. There's also a switch in the BIOS on timing and voltage, People just need to set it on Auto, If they don't know what their doing..
