I got one of these about two weeks ago when they were $220. Fantastic little SSD so far. Ranked over twice as fast as my 7200 HDD in my laptop, and I think my laptop is limited to SATA1 or SATA2.
May not be as fast as a synchronous SSD, but price per pound it's great.
SSDs are faster even if you only had SATA1 because the random reads/writes are still considerably faster, and that's what matters the most.
