Ends today. Newegg has the OCZ Agility 3 Series AGT3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Disk for $155 - $30 rebate [Exp 10/27] = $125 with free shipping. Features sequential access read speeds of up to 525MB/s and write speeds of up to 500MB/s. SSDs might not be getting bigger, but they're getting way faster.
This drive screams.
It tests out as the fastest reand / write drive out there.
One of these drives handily beats two of other drives even in a RAID configuration.
This is where harddrives are heading in the coming years.
You can get one today. You won't be sorry.
I am amazed at the speed inday to day normal stuff.
Programs open so fast, you think they were already running.
And I'm on Linux.
^^^ Are you sure you are not thinking of the Vertx 3? This is slower than that one.
#2 you are correct; there are other drives that test faster, however, have a smaller versions of this one, and it is fast.
A word to the wise: if you don't have a motherboard or controller that supports SATA III, this drive's performance will be roughly half on a SATA II controller. Waited myself till I had a motherboard with SATA III before delving into these 500MB/s+ SSD's.
We should be seeing some really good deals on the SATA II SSD's soon since the SATA III are now becoming mainstream. The SATA II's will still be useful for upgrading older hardware, and on "no moving part" low power systems (no fans and SSD only).
ohh yeah, my miss, i was thinking this was the vertex3, which I own.
