I have a nine year old IDE 7 GB hard drive that reads and writes up to 900 MB per second. Imagine those in RAID 0.

#1 sometimes faster is not always better.

You're leaving out the fact that the access time on a SSD is far faster...

Keep in mind the Agility isn't as good as the OCZ Vertex, or Intel X25-M. It's not bad, but I think its 4k random write is not wonderful compared to other premium SSDs, though still better than the old craptastic stuttering SSDs.

Looks like they do now support TRIM with newer firmwares, which is a definite plus (must?) for Win 7 users.

This would still make a good application/install drive, but probably not as great for temporary files, cache space, etc. I'd still get a Vertex for a few bucks more for your C: and/or swapfile.

    Also, rebate. :[

I don't know what your smoking #1. IDE can't even transfer that fast. Even if your 7gb drive existed.

If you can hold out a year then do it. Intel just came out with some new crazy fabrication tech that allows them to put more baconnaise on the shingle. They figure SSDs are gonna topple in price come Q4.

#7 Just because they can make them cheaper doesn't mean that they'll sell them for cheaper!

#8, that is true, however, as the market becomes more competitive, prices will start dropping like flies...

I got the 60GB Summit (220 MB/sec read, 200 MB/sec write) for less last year and the latest firmware update added TRIM.
