We normally stay away from current events, but this one caught our attention quite literally since we're in SF. During lunch I tried to catch a glimpse of the torch along its planned route starting at AT&T Park, however much to my dismay the authorities whisked it away from the protesting throngs to a backup route. Some pics: 1 2 3 4 5 6.

obviously you don't care, but if you can get past your own selfish benefits and see the needs of the Tibetans, then you'll understand why some people care so much about human rights.

WTF are you talking about, #4? China has a much better human rights record recently than the USA.

don't tell me we are going waste anther trillions gazillion of dollars on Tibet (like we wasted on Iraq)?! Time to take care some of our internal issues first (like our sub prime loan collapse and record gasoline prices).

i'm not arguing with you on that, but it just means china is doing a much better job of covering it up recently than the US.

I say long live Chinese culture and cuisine...but f*ck the Chinese government. We (the US) treat them as an economic ally, but at the same time, they are trying to steal military secrets from us, and we have to catch their f*cking spies and sh*t like that. I say we nuke them.

Why the f*ck are we having the olympics in china. It's a polluted hell hole over there.

Here's to hoping someone touches off a neutron bomb in that city.

Sodom and Gomorrah were wiped out, but San Francisco still stands.

Long live China, the food and the government! What is California wanted to break away and be independent, I bet you there wouldn't be a bunch of Free Cali protestors. California was fought for when the US took it over. Now Tibet is being fought for and is now ruled by China. If they don't like the new government, they should move to a place where they like the people in charge…….like Myanmar. Smile

So live long Chinese government and keep sending over the Dim Sum!

"We"? "Our"? Isn't Bensbargains.net just a one-man ghetto deal wrecking crew? (Ben)

What can I say? Despite of having mixed feelings and different political stances, Chinese people still care about things like this.

#4, those tibetan gangsters looting everywhere in tibet only deserve iron fist.
#9, I am Chinses and I really don't like the way you talk. You just make yourself an uneducated jerk barking all around. So please behave yourself and act like human.

2008 Olympics should be terminated so China will learn not to roll tanks over harmless Tibetan Buddhist monks!

Olympics has always been about politics. Hitler tried to use Olympics to promote Arian nation and failed when he had to present gold medals to African Americans. Russia and United States each boycotted each other's Olympics. Terrorists murdered Jewish athletes in Munich. China is clearly trying to use Olympic to make a statement and cover up its crime against humanity and extends its boundary of tyranny.

Most people don't know that the current president Hu Jin-Tao rose to power because he killed thousands of Tibetan in 1989, the same year of Tianmen Square.

Tibet has always been an independent nation historically. Tibet nation was conquored by Mongolians, not by Chinese. Mongolians were too strong, Chinese nation was terminated by the Mongolians who went on to conquor many parts of Europe. It's very ironic how Chinamen claim Tibet to be part of China when it started as Mongolian conquoring everything including China. Taking credit for what Mongolians did?

China built a railroad directly to Tibet. During the current crackdown, Chinese troops were transported via railroad, which was quite convenient.

The only gangsters in Tibet are the Ethnic Han people who are committing cultural genocide in Tibet, squeezing the lives out of Tibetans.

Definitely a touchy subject to many. At least we live somewhere where the protests can occur without fear of irreprehensible retaliation.
