Impressive little camera for the price. This thing beats the pants off pretty much any entry-level DSLR unless you're shooting fast action.
That's a very bold statement to make on a 4/3 sensor which all others dslr has sensor 50% bigger than it. Canon sensor is smaller but close to 50% bigger.
Yes, Olympus has the best JPG engine in the business but when you said beat the pants off it better be in every aspect including details, iso performance. Due to sensor size iso is definite not up to par with any of the DSLR entry level or not.
Btw: The reason it dropped to this price level is due the new mirrorless Sony Nex cameras. When Nex 1st came out E-pl1 got $100 drop. This is another $50 drop.
Dont get me wrong I like the pl1 but beats the pants off other DSLR, not.
Point taken - I should have said "at ISO 1600 and below." I suspect this represents a good 95% of what most people shoot, so I still think the E-PL1 would be a better choice than an entry-level DSLR for most people.
Note that neither the E-PL1 nor Sony's NEX cameras are DSLRs.
