wow, a coupon that saves you two dollars...frickin amazing!

on a serious tip, i've been thinking of ugrading my sony reciever to something that has 7.1 or 7.2, possibly upconversion (not a high priority), and can play music on all speakers at normal volume (as opposed to some sound field crap that makes it sound funny or comes out soft on the rear speakers)

i'm thinking either this model, or the 607 or the sony STR-DN1000. any suggestions/inputs/comments?

Ben regular price is 329 before coupon code. I prefer the 707 but this is a pretty good deal.

#1 - from what I understand, this is mostly the same as the 607, just without the front HDMI port, with 10 W/channel less, and some other minor differences. The sound processors are supposed to be the same or at least really similar, and I've heard good things on that end. If you have need of the ipod dock, this is probably a good deal since it normally costs $100 extra.

No speakers? hmm. I have some extra tower speakers in the attic I could connect for my front channels, so I guess the existing sattelite speakers for my 5.1 setup would just need to be re positioned in the room?

Now this is an Onkyo 7.2 receiver. I don't know why some HTPC case that looks like this thing can sell for $200+ without PSU.

Yup, no iPod dock mentioned on Newegg's website. Price there is $329. How's this one a bargain. It's available at a lot of places for the same price or better. For people in California, Amazon.com has it for $317 with no tax (and free shipping) and no re-stock fee if you decide to return it. Much better deal there.
