Is it just me, or do these nice receivers keep getting cheaper and cheaper?! I suppose this one is on the cheap side since it doesn't have 1080p support?

This has 5 1080p HDMI ports. How much more 1080p support do you need?

Last Friday, TigerDirect had a whole Onkyo theater system for $429 (open box). I think that would be a better buy if still available. The receiver unit seemed comparable to this one.

Any thoughts on the comparison to this model:
ONKYO 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver TX-SR707

Snagged it earlier in the week for $569. Besides the price difference. (Not really an AV guy, but saw that home theater mag recommended the SR607 and saw the SR707 on sale... updated?)

I have the TX-SR603X, and I am hugely dissappointed with Onkyo. It seems weaker than the Kenwood and Sony receivers I owned it high school, and it is certainly weaker than the HK and Sony DB receivers I recently owned. I don't trust their build quality. Mine is rated for 90W/ch, and while the sound can go loud, there is a significant lack of power, and it blew one of my speakers at a relatively low volume, so I suspect that it isn't the cleanest signal either. And while I know HK is known for a warm sound, Onkyo seems a bit harsh to me. I liked their old stuff for the clean sound, but the new stuff isn't that good.
