onkyo has a good history. But, they also have a wide price range of products. this receiver has a rated THD of 0.9% and that seems pretty bad for onkyo. save your money and go for one with THD @ 0.2% -- u won't regret it.

This good for the beginner stereo person that does not care so much about good quality sound. You can buy a much better set for another $150 at Fry's. JBL makes good cheap sets and even Polk.

To #3 who is complaining about 0.9% THD..the thing costs $106 for god's sake! If you want lower THD, open your wallet . If the manual had'nt told you about the THD you won't even notice anyway. How many people can tell the difference between 0.2 THD and 0.9 at normal decibel levels? Probably none .
What now you want a perfect 14.1 system for this price?

This brand is very very popular amongst audio files.... This particular offering from them however is not all that imressive, but still a really good deal. If you are into amazing sound and features, look into there higher end stuff. You cannot go wrong with Onkyo

Bose are a waste of money. For the money you spend on a bose system you could get better speakers which can actually handle power and provide good mid to low range.

I had a roommate with an Onkyo system and it performed very well. It was definitely on par with my Denon system.

      Spot on!
Bose makes some decent systems but most of their models are trash. It's amazing how marketing can influence peoples' minds. Some of their models actually sound worse than white van speakers.
