Already ordered one. Great deal IMHO.
This is a great deal compared to the regular price of $599. I am going for it.
2 people I know have bought HTIB from shoponkyo, and they have been super pleased, really cant beat it.
Awesome deal for a 7.1 system.
its half price because its a refurb/used unit and does not include cables? Hopefully it comes with enough to hook it up to the speakers. And half the warranty period on refurbs.
The audiophiles are over at A mazon .com are saying that this can't get true 7.1 because the HDMI is just a pass through. I probably wouldn't know the difference and am strongly considering this.
Refurb or not, it's still a great deal for a 7.1!
Awesome deal on 7.1 with this brand. HDMI And 1080p wild. Rated at 1200 watts peak I'm sure but still packs a punch.
Well I bought it.
I have a Consumer Reports subscription including their website membership. I looked it up on their site and this unit is by far the highest rated in their "Home theater in a box" category. They give it a score of 71 and the second highest rating is only a 56. The score is also influenced by the price so it would presumably be rated even higher at $215. Here's the blurb about it from their site:
"The Onkyo had the best sound quality of the tested systems, with exceptionally good bass. Its many useful features include auto calibration and ample connections, and it's SIRIUS satellite radio-ready. It's the only model in this Ratings with a 7.1-speaker setup. If you want to spend less, consider the Sony. It has decent sound, with fine bass but fewer features. It has no video connections, so it can't be used to switch between video sources. Both have iPod docks. "
The Sony they say is a good option if you want to spend less is listed as $200 in the article.
Does this come with a DVD player or is it just the surround system.
Just a sound system. No DVD player.
Is it still available, I only see the black one now for more $$
without dvd player, it's not that bad, but for a refurb/nocables i'd watn a dvd player at this price.
You don't have a DVD player?
#15 you want the world. This deal gets you a good reveiver, 7 speakers plus a sub for a little over $200 and you want more. Hold your breath, that deal is comming soon.
I normally wouldn't even bother looking at a ~$200 surround sound system, but at better than half price for this setup, you could do a lot worse. Good for someone who doesn't plan on upgrading his system piece by piece.
However, if you *are* planning on upgrading piece by piece, there's very little of this system that would be worth keeping - be it receiver or speakers. That said, entry-level separates would go for much more (~$300-400 for a receiver, ~$200+/pair of speakers).
#13 im not seeing it for this price either.
Similar Onkyo deal recently posted for $106 or so.
