CircuitCity.com has the Onkyo HT-SR600 5.1 Home Theater Speaker System for $270 - 10% off with in-store pickup with coupon code G3ACMHRA9G = $243. [BizRate]
5-channel amplifier (105 watts x 5, 125 watts for subwoofer)
HD-capable component video switching (3 in, 1 out), no HDMI
1. 5.1 is not outdated, unless you're watching HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. Most media (TVs, movies, games) can't even utilize anything more than 1 That being said, most people can't even differentiate between 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1, so there's no reason to believe someone looking for a low-end, decent HTIB shouldn't buy this.
2. You didn't buy this for $200, unless you bought refurbished or got an employee discount somewhere. Even then, I highly doubt you bought it for $200.
3. I call bullshit on your whole posting because this system wasn't even on the market three years ago (Jan. 2005). Hell, the user's manual even says 2006.
#1, quick search on Google revealed that this is probably the best HTIB for the price. If you can afford it, however, go for the HT-SR800. Probably the Best HTIB for $700 and under, and right now you can get 10% at Circuit City if you do in-store pickup. Not including sales tax, you can get it for around $400. Keep in mind, however, the satellites are pretty damn big, but they sound awesome.
I have the Onkyo HT-S894 5.1 system... I got it for $400 about 4 months ago. Fantastic system and I definitely trust the brand. This seems like a great buy for the $$$... it's just a shame that it doesn't have HDMI :/.
anyone know the quality of this setup?
It's pretty good, but 5.1 is outdated. I've got the same system for $200 three years ago.
#2, you're an rodeo cowboy.

#2 Busted for Bullshitting, please leave and never come back.
No idea about its quality.
Agreed about this being one of the better home theatre in a box setups, wish it had HDMI though
The Onkyo HTIB's have been the highest rated ones at Circuit City for years. For the money, you're getting a lot.
Onkyo is the best you can buy at this price range. They also make very good mid end receivers (up to $1000)
