It's a good price for an old but very good receiver. The current model is the 5008 with the 5009 right around the corner.
If you're paying this much for a receiver, you might as well go with a Denon. Sure you'll get more out of Onkyo but Denons are way more reliable receivers.
Onkyo is a better deal in all my research in terms of features. I think it actually sounds better than a Denon. Denon is too bright for my taste.
I have this model and I am very happy with it. Have not tried all of its features though. Just have the PS3 plugged into it to play movies and a little gaming.
When I listen to music its on a stereo system not a home theater system. But I do love to play dvd and blu ray concerts on it. Almost live with the 9 speakers and 2 subs.
Previous to this I had another Onkyo and would still be using it but there were no hdmi inputs. Can you say a tangle of wires. Its still going strong though.
This unit is big and its heavy. It also gets rather warm.
