This can normally be found BRAND NEW for $380, so don't get your panties in a wad.

This is an excellent receiver. The price is OK -the Onkyo's refurbished prices of $399, without the 10% off, is a joke-, but not a great deal.

I concur, #2...nicely done. I doubt if it's an original, but we'll give you credit.

I know everybody says it is a nice receiver but I am not convinced. Subpar analog to digital upconversion, not a whole lot of power. Check out Denon 2808 and 3808 instead.

#$6, those cost more than 2x and 3x as much as a 605, they are in a different price bracket.

I picked this up from shoponkyo a couple months ago for $289 shipped. Haven't seen a better deal on it since. And I was considering the 3808 but felt we're still a year away from having all the kinks worked out on the next gen audio codecs and HDMI 1.3 implementation. Basically the 605 will hold me over nicely until then.

I bought this new on Amazon for $380 a few weeks ago, as was posted here, so I wouldn't bother with this, however it's a good receiver, sounds great, plenty of inputs, easy to use.
It's true about the sub par upconversion, in fact, I don't even bother with it. I just run both HDMI and component cables for video out to the TV. Luckily when it's set to HDMI monitor out, component input sources will still be output through component output as well. So all that's needed is a switch of the TV input. I don't mind.
Great receiver for the money though.

We got this last week. I was skeptical about the upconversion but it really works. The sound through the xbox360, and tv are great. I am not a huge stereo person but this suits our needs. It is much better than a basic surround system. The upconversion with the two HDMI jacks is a major plus. You will not find another system with those features for the money.

I've read that Yamaha receivers are better quality for the same amount of money.

I have had one now for over a month. It sounds GREAT. I am happy both with the upconversion and the sound. I could not find a better receiver for the money and am glad I made this purchase.

"Features are meaningless if it sounds like baconnaise."

Good thing it's received almost unanimously positive reviews from professionals and consumers alike.
