I think it's around 80 or 85w but they rate their s a lot more honestly then some other companies. My TC-SR806 flat blows away my old Pioneer VSX912.

Newegg has this for $399.99 w/ a free Onkyo UPA1 iPod/iPhone dock. If you have an ipod or iphone this is a much better deal as the UPA1 retails for $99. If you don't have an ipod just get this one.

Am I better off to buy a standalone receiver such as this? or a home theater package with speakers? I'm planning on doing in-wall speakers. But maybe I could buy the home theater in a box, keep the receiver, and sell the speaks. Smile

While a good value, I find the standalone receivers are much more flexible when it comes to inputs/outputs, features and generally working with your other AV equipment.

#6 is actually wrong. a Onkyo HT6200's receiver actually have more connection (analogue) than the tx-sr607.

#5 HITB usually come with pretty bad speakers. i went with tx-sr607 + energy take classic 5.0 + energy S8.3 over Onkyo-HT6200's hitb. and i like it a lot.

Wow. It's retailed for $600. It's out of stock right now. I was gonna get one and hold it until BF to see if I can find a better deal and return this one, but it's out of stock.

#3 I'm lazy and didn't want to have to look it up.

"S" or "Massive High Power Transformer" has no meaning in the world of electronics. Real numbers are what I'm interested in... not marketing names dreamed up to captivate people like you.

A high current power supply is important when you want to drive boomers - but you won't convince me it's worth a silly catch name just to add another bullet point on a features list.

Marketing crap aside, it's probably a nice receiver.

I had an Onkyo back in the day (YO!), and it got VERY hot...hopefully the newer ones have better heat dissipation components. Other than that, we loved it...paired it with some Polk 10 monitors, and it was da bomb!

I hate my 603. The sound is okay and clear at low volumes, but at high volumes, it lacks any kind of solid punch. All the marketing terms they use to describe how solid the power is, and it honest sounds worse than my old Sony. One of my speakers also blew out at a moderately high volume, when the Sony drove them clearly at much higher volumes.
