This is one of the best receivers in this price range. You can get it on Amazon with no tax and free shipping; ends up being cheaper there.

Only if you live in CA #1. For everyone else this is a better deal.

I urge anyone contemplating purchasing this Onkyo to rethink it. This receiver is absolutely the worst thing I have ever owned.
First it is laden with HDMI handshake issues such that you will be waiting anywhere from 10 seconds to 30 minutes (depending on the receivers mood apparently) to actually get a watchable video. In the interim you will be greeted with greyish pixels and flashing on then off video. It's absolutely horrendous.
And lets not get into the heat this thing generates. When people say you can fry an egg on this....don't listen to them. An egg will be burnt to a crisp and rendered totally inedible. Seriously folks.....stay clear of this thing as much as possible. Get a Denon or Pioneer....anything but this.

Agreed. My Denon puts out half the heat that my Yamaha and Onkyo did. The Yam got so hot, that the DVD stacked above it would cut out. These were 2008 models, so I had hoped that these mfr's had the heat issue under control in the new models.
As I've said before, the Denon does a far suoerior job with the FULL Audyssey suite than do the Onky (with only the 2EQ version) or Yamamha (with own setup utility).
