It works reasonably well. There is some lag, but usually it's not noticable. The only complaint I have is the limited number portability. If you live in a metropolitan area it's probably fine, but in order for them to port a number they have to have and agreement with the local presence. In my case (small town of about 20,000) they had no contract and I couldn't even get a NEW number in my area code. Not just prefix, but area code. I had to choose the Saint Louis area code 60+ miles a way. Other than that, it works exactly as advertised. Phone support has been surprisingly good at resolving a couple of issues too.

100% love my ooma. I've had it for over 2 years. Had Premium service. Really like it, but don't think I'll re-up this time just due to limited use. However, I might sign back up after all the do not call/marketers start to get through again (Premier has # blocking from a master list and also a personal list). The system works both in front of and behild routers. The telo handset is rated as mediocure, so I would get the $40 port and bring your own phones to the system. In over 2 years of use, I've hade maybe 3 down periods. 1 time due to my local power being out for over 12 hours. Another, it was ooma's issue, but that was fixed in under 3 hours. The last was my ISP blowing it, but my calls were picked up by the VM at their end and then put onto my ooma upon return of my network connection. LOVE the ooma. I'm ahead about $250 so far.... now just adding about $25/month to my realized savings.
When mine worked right it was great but after about a year it started randomly playing my voicemail. Then it would say "handset paging enabled" every 15 minutes and at random volume levels. It used to blurt out something else all the time but I forgot what it was because I've had it unhooked for the last few months.I can still get online for my voicemail. For me, it actually works out pretty good that way. If someone wants to talk to me, call my cell.
I love my Ooma. Beats the heck out of paying $25+ per month to that big company whose name starts with an A, ends with a T and has a T& in the middle...
$40 number port fee or included with 1 year premium service.
small monthly state utility fee $3-4
Is this thing worth a flip? I pay $15 a month now just to keep my longtime home number. Tried the magic jack and its crapola....

I like mine so far. Call quality is good, not issues with service. Should save me a good chunk of change over time.
