I keep on seeing this deal, but never pull the trigger. Can anyone share the experience with this?
Ordered mine from Amazon... they have it for $190, but give you an Amazon credit of $30, I guess after the normal return period ends.... so that's $160, free shipping and NO TAX, which Dell hits me for...
Reviews are very good on Amazon. Most of the negatives are based on either installation or poor customer service. Form what I gather, the install is VERY easy if you have any electronics experience.... Mostly plug and play. The customer service does seem to be a legit issue, but those complaining seem to be back in the Spring. ooma is supposed to have added more CSR's to help.
Real negative seems to be porting of phone numbers takes something like 3 weeks to happen, so you need to keep paying your current provider until it moves.
The talk of ooma going under seems to have died down, and they are about to roll out the next generation hub... Very slick looking and comes with a cordless phone as well. That should sell for $250 or so, but basically the same system.
Worst case is they only last for 6 months... I'll have saved $50 by that point over my current land line service, including the premium service at $99/year + 160 for the equipment.
I bought this system last November and still going strong. In my opinion the call quality is indistinguishable from a landline. But then I have 6 meg down and 1 meg up DSL connection.
I ported my number which took 2 weeks, but never had a problem with the system. Never had to call customer care either.
I just bought a second one for my Dad from Amazon yesterday for 189. The Amazon price went up again this morning, but it keeps fluctuating.
coupon not work
Works well, but make sure you have decent upload speed. I tried it at the inlaws, and 100 up was just too slow. I could hear fine, but others could not hear me. I bet 256 or more up would do the trick. I have about 3000 up, and it works without a hitch. I still have my land line because I haven't set up internation service yet.
Their site says 12.99 monthly or 99 yearly. Why this says "free"? Or I missed something?
Their basic service is free for as long as Ooma is alive. If you want the "Premium" service, then you pay a little extra.
Thanks #7. That makes sense. 170 bucks for a lifetime service is a good deal though.
Looks like coupon code is dead.
What do you get with the premium service?
