If you're buying an Oreck, than you have no idea what a good vacuum is. Please dont get Oreck.

^ They get pretty good reviews on Amazon, what do you recommend for around $100?

Probably one of the best vacuums out there. Preferred by every cleaning crew home and commercial that I've observed. No fuss, no belt to break and lasts forever. The new ones cost about $300.

What do I recommend for around $100 that gets down low to the floor and really "picks up the dirt" with plenty of suction power ?

Dog pile #1. He sounds like a Dyson Fanboy that judges vacuum cleaners according to the price you pay for one...

Dyson fanboy? Never that! I hate Dyson vacuums. I'll take a shark at half the price and the it does a better job of cleaning. If I had to be a fanboy of a vacuum, call me a Miele fanboy, thanks.

Not worth buying new... I picked up the newest model used off the classifieds for $100.. they are worthless on the second hand market since the warranty is not transferable.. you can get the $600 model for $100 all day long if you are patient and look.
