    This is "new and improved." Allows one to enter $ cost of electricity for direct display of cost. Battery backup to retain memory when its not plugged in. Also one's totals do not get reset on a power glitch.

    The old P4400 is still listed for $21 and is still quite useful. What I'd like is one that handles 30A.

    I have the older one. Good enough for me, but I like the new features #2 GrumpyCat mentioned.

    30 Amps is too much for that type of connector. 20 Amps is the typical maximum. You'd need a clamp ammeter with a data logger or something for 30 Amp circuits. I looked, but I didn't see much under $1500. Good luck.

    Why not just save the money of buying this. Use if to buy compact flourescent light bulbs and put your "gadgets" on a surge protector that can be flicked off or unplugged when not in use
