From the talk in forums PALiT made a good reputation since hitting the US market. This is a whole lot of card for the money although, NCIX.com has a comment of it being a little on the noisy side.

PALiT looks to be running with a whole line of rebates.

This is GDR3, I see GDR4 versions of the 3870. Is there a significant performance difference? Two slots is a turn off too.

True they're around, but harder to find at a good price. Preformance isn't worth a whole $20-30 most will demand (just move to a 4850), however this Asus is a nice deal, abate again a dual slot... Your girlfriend, and her friend, must spend a lot more time together...
