I was all set to click till I read the words "Sprint activation" Boo Hiss
Sprint is fine nowadays. I was a customer for 2-3 years until my work gave me a phone gratis. If you're worried, you can always pay an extra $5/mo for "unilited roaming". That just means you can use the Verizon network. I found that I did not need the roaming option. The good thing is that Sprint only charge $15/mo for unlimited data and they also have tiered pricing plans. Verizon perfers to rape you for overages and data access.
BTW, when is the last time you saw a $99 smart phone that did NOT require a plan?
This could save you $100s over the Apple iPhone
"This could save you $100s over the Apple iPhone"
and a ton of aggravation.
Apple seems to feel you are only renting their phone...
#4, All carriers act that way. Personally, I prefer the Pearl. The OS is a lot more limited in terms of third party apps and available warez. There are VNC and SSH clients for it but they are slow and suck. There is no slingplayer for it. It also uses Cingular's crappy Edge network.. BUT It does comms and calendaring better than ANYONE and the damned thing DOES NOT burp CRASH!!!
If this is built out of the same cloth as the Treo 755, the build quality is a LOT better than the crap Palm pooped out from the 650 + 700p, and it shouldn't crash very often. It's still cutting edge features built on a 10-year old OS (when the he11 is their Linux OS gonna be ready?), so you gotta expect SOME problems at times. Want a phone that doesn't crash? - avoid any smartphone as they allow 3rd party apps and are so much more complex than just being a "phone."
This Centro has yet ANOTHER flash card format (MicroSD), making swapping cards with other Treos and cameras etc a big pain-in-the-ass as you now need to carry around a bunch of adapters.
The upside of this Centro is it actually has better and more current software than the recently released Treo 755 - (Palm must have figured they can screw Treo users because there's nowhere else to go).
Yes, pearl is great, w/T Mobile.
is this a new phone? i've never seen it before
I wish they had this for T-Mobile
Looks like a nice phone. If only they have it for Cingular
