A coworker has this. The power button has broken so she is permanently tethered to a power source otherwise she wouldnt be able to get it to turn on if it ever runs out of juice.

Sprint has the best data prices out of any carrier. I left Verizon after then lobotomized one too many phones. Like taking multi-touch off the Droid.

Still haven't found a smart phone OS as slick as WebOS for notifications and multitasking. But it still needs tons of updates. Palm has been releasing OS updates one every 1.5 months or so.

Sprint's $99 plan with my Tour gives unlimited talk, data, email, text, GPS, etc. Try to do that with Verizon or ATT. And coverage is great.

My group has a mix of AT&T (iPhone), Sprint, Verizon, PagePlus (Verizon derivative), etc.

The consensus is that cost considered, Sprint with Pre is the best of them.

and #1, do your coworker a favor. All Pre are still in warranty, and Sprint will usually fix such things in the stores, while you wait.

#1 Not sure if your coworker is aware, but to power down the Pre you have to hold the power button down for like 5 seconds at which point the phone prompts to either turn it off or enter airplane mode. The phone does take a while to boot up (approx 90 seconds), but it rarely freezes or needs a reboot.

I'm a former iPhone 3G owner. While the phone is really decent, it can't multitask which makes it oldschool. Because I can get free Shoutcast, Pandora, and AccuRadio, I even canceled the satellite radio subscription for my car. You can use the GPS while streaming internet radio. The GPS talks over the net radio to give directions, or you can mute the GPS voice.

#6 I am new to iphone, but found the backgrounder which keeps whichever apps running in the background, kind of multitasking. I can listen to radio while using another apps and use skype in the background too. I am using it for tethering, will keep my iphone for all the apps and tethering, not familiar using other phones for tethering.

Don't buy one of these if battery life is important to you.
