Why would I want to buy a 720p tv?
Because it's better than the 13" BW one you are now using. That, and you can not tell the difference between 1080P and 720P on anything less than 50". No, you can't.
Exactly what #2 said.
Because this is an excellent deal. And #2 and #3 are right.
Well, you might want to buy THIS 720p tv because picture quality is more important to you than the number of dots in the screen, or because there is no set on the market at this size/price that will have better quality.
Got this set from Fry's on BF for $598. Couch is about 15 feet away and the picture is great! Noticed that with our cable provider (Comcast), HD looks better set at 1080i rather than 720p.
#2, depends on how close you sit to the TV. I could definitely tell the difference between the 720p and 1080p Panasonic plasmas at Circuit City last time I went (~ 1 month ago.)
#7, Did they have the same signal run into both TVs?
You may have "seen a difference" in the picture, but you really think that the 'City was pumping a 1080p picture through those things on the demo loop? Any difference you think you saw was not a result of the increased resolution on the 1080p set.
This is a sweet deal
becuase this is 600 bucks
they giving it away although tax sucks.
#2 - try hooking it up to a computer- 50", 42", 37", 32", 28", 24", doesn't matter. You WILL notice a difference.
I believe CC runs component cables with 720p for their HDTV sets. The only TVs that are displaying 1080P in the stores are the individual setups, and in that case, it's hard to compare, since the content varies. I have a 37" 720p panny plasma and it looks great, compared to my dad's sharp 37" 1080P plasma, i honestly could not tell the difference. I would think you could, but the reality is that i couldn't. Having a 1080p would be nice for bragging rights and whatnot.
Panasonic sucks!!!! I bought this exact same TV and took it back 3 days later because of BURN IN. I brought the TV home and plugged it in. I turned it on, and started using it as my computer. I made sure it was set at its brightest setting, and I left it on for two days straight. When I turned it on to watch a movie, burn-in!!!! Besides, it's only 720p. That sucks by todays standards!!! It should be at least 2160p.
#14, you sir, are a moron.
if you dont follow the golden rule of plasmas (100hrs of tv before monitor use), then you'll get burn in. set at the brightest setting for two days will produce burn in, not prevent it.
ive got the 1080 version of it; i can vouch for it as a great tv - im almost tempted to get the 720 since almost all ps3 games are 720, but with a 1080 blueray player, why bother w/downgrades
Plasma TVs need to be broken-in for a minium of 100 hours rodeo cowboy. NO static images and NO black bars for the first 100-200 hours. Do a little research toad.
#15 I have the 1080p version of this tv in 46 inch. this tv rocks. panasonic rocks. But sony sucks.... peace
yeh, make sure you follow proper protocol for plasmas and you wont have any issues. dont worry about 720p. the quality of the brand will make this as good as most 1080p sets.
i have this tv in the 50'' and i love it. you will not get a better set at this price. not even close.
this is a great deal.. if i hadnt just picked up 42" last week, i would be all over this one.
The only problem is that it is plasma. I guess you should get em while you can, they won't be around much longer.
