Wow! This looks to actually be a pretty good deal.
this is a good deal... great addition for a bedroom tv
Same TV on Fry's Ads for $700.
Not bad price but if you are near a Brandsmart USA it is $698. Of course HHGregg and Circuit City and Bestbuy will price match that too.
dosent say 1080p @ newegg ben !! !WTF
another one lost to the dogs .....
I want a 50" panasonic plasma 1080p for less than $999 on BF
Wait so is this 720 or 1080?
wow panasonic is really pushing for their cheap plasmas...
it is 720 but can do 1080i
It's 720p.

on the panasonic plasmas...look for models that end with 85 in the model number and not 80
I don't see any huge advantage of the 85u over the 80u. Care to explain?
Is this significantly better than a 1080p LCD in the same price range?
don't plasmas use two times the amount of energy?

The X in the model nunber means 720P. Z is for 1080P. I think the 85 series has 24fps capability and the 850 series has THX color preset.
Got this with the xbox360 & portable dvd player deal from BestBuy last week @ $900. It is 720 but takes anything you throw at it. PC looks best at 1280x768 w/ATI 3850 via DVI to HDMI adapter. No dead pixels, no burn in issues, picks up several HD stations even though I live in the middle of Pennsyltucky - they have to be at least 50 miles away. This TV runs cool and is light enough I was able to easily set it up by myself. The bright plasma screen is visible from any angle, and the Redskins looked great on it yesterday - no jaggies, no stuttering.
Personally I think it really shines with movies though... the plasma screen makes it look like a "TV"... not a huge computer monitor.
SD channels doesn't look good on these TVs unless it's a Sony. It's the processing circuit that makes difference.
On these TVs? Sony hasn't made a plasma in years. SD material looks far better on a plasma than an LCD. I have the 50" version of this, great TV.
