If prices drop another $90, I'll jump in. Until then, I have no reason to stop buying DVD's.

Whats the virtue of an "Internet-Ready" Blu-ray Disc Player?

      Honestly, whats the point?

"BD Liveâ„¢ - BD Liveâ„¢ allows you to access content via your internet-connected Blu-ray player. Download a variety of up-to-date content, like refreshed previews and exclusive special features, and take a step towards the future of interactivity."

Another avenue for manufacturers to market to you, track your behavior, and use that information to more effectively market to you?

There are people that love that stuff. I rarely look at all the extra crap they put on DVDs now. Who gives a flying burp about the directors commentary?

Wow. Things are getting so cheap you'd think they were made in China.

      Marketing gimmicks..
When dvd's were released they promised a whole boatload of features - multiple angles, multiple endings, etc..seriously, how many dvd's have you seen with those fancy features?

@ #6: i dunno, the porn industry certainly took advantage of those features.

panasonic for $150 certainly beats the pants off of that memorex deal.

blueray is going to go away, just like hd dvd. Wait about another year and there will be something to replace it.

      If I wanted to go BluRay, should I get a player-only or a PS3 for $150 more?

#18 You can say that about HD-DVD player. The only problem is, pedoph!le nuisance_sucks do not own a large screen tv to fully enjoy his favorite HD-DVD, Brokeback Mountain.

HD-DVD is going to make a comeback. And my so-called friends said I wasted $50 onj my Toshiba back in Feb.
